Character Information:
Name: Aragorn II Elessar
Canon: Lord of the Rings (movie version)
Canon point:
Age: 87 years
Appearance: As a ranger | At the Council of Elrond | in the Fellowship | King of Men

Aragorn is described as a tall (6 ft. 6 in.) and lean man, with unruly long and dark hair. His hair is said to be flecked with grey, showing us that he is not quite a young man anymore, and he has a beard of the same hue. His eyes a sea-green color (grey in the books), and he can look so deeply at others, that it would almost seem that he is able to read their thoughts. These eyes are also said to look very sad, and most likely by looking into them, you would realize Aragorn is much older than he physically looks like.

His manner of dressing varies with the purpose and occasion, but it can be said it is a mixture of Elven and men clothes. He mostly prefers dark colors. As the Ranger Strider, he uses well-worn dark brown breeches, shirt, boots, a hooded cloak, and his sword. This look, along with his skills, allow him to be inconspicuous and easily conceal his presence, as well as his identity as Isildur's heir. These clothes are very similar to the ones he wears when travelling with the Fellowship. When among the Elves, he tends to favor more Elven style clothes, as shown by the fine but discreet outfit he wears during the Council of Elrond. As his time to take the crown of men approaches, Aragorn's style evolves to show this, until he finally dons the armor as well as clothes fitting his position.

Personalilty:
Foster son of an Elf Lord, Ranger of the North, Dúnedain, leader of the armies of Men, King of Gondor and Arnor... Aragorn's personality is not easy to describe as a whole, as there are many facets that make up his complete self. He is a rather mysterious character, but as we get to know him, some of these mysteries are revealed.

Aragorn belongs to the race Men known as the Dúnedain (http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/D%C3%BAnedain) or Men of the West, which makes him a far descendant of the Men of Númenor through his father Arathorn. Because of this, Aragorn has a longer lifespan than the average men, living up to around 250 years. He physically ages much slower than other men, looking in his prime when he is already 87 years of age, and his youth might be retained until the end of his life. He is also very wise, as shown several times during his journey, but in particular when he was able to master the Palantír and call forth the Army of the Dead.

As a young boy, Aragorn was raised among the Elves, fostered in Elrond's own household. From the Elf Lord, the young man learned much of the Elven culture, including the language, their poetry and other lore, their history and even their healing arts. During this time, he was called Estel (Hope) and lived as an equal among the Rivendell Elves, even though he belonged to the race of Men. He was especially close to Elrond's twin sons, Elladan and Elrohir, and often traveled with them. Even after having rejoined the race of Men among the Rangers of the North, Aragorn sometimes appears more Elvish than man, from the way he dresses or speaks.

Even though it's not particularly stated, it is possible that the years Aragorn spent as Estel are among the happiest in his life. He had his mother with her, and though his birth father had passed away, he found a father figure in Elrond and brothers in the Lord's sons. Also, he need not worry about the future choices he would make, and even got to meet and fall in love with Lady Arwen Evenstar.

Becoming a Ranger of the North and Chieftain of the Dúnedain, Aragorn began to show his skill in leadership since a young age, though the Rangers are a group of scattered people. He was mostly likely trained in the use of bow and blades by the Elves of Rivendell, as well as by traveling with Elrond's sons, but he perfected his battle abilities and acquired tracking skills as a Ranger. During his youth he also served in armies of Men, where he gained experienced in war and strategy, something that he would need in years to come to lead the Rohirrim and men of Gondor against the hosts of Isengard and Mordor.

Aragorn's true heritage was hidden from him as a child, and only revealed to him when he came of age, when Elrond handed him the Ring of Barahir. Since that moment, this is a burden the future King of Men will have to bear, until the time comes when he will have to make the choice either to reject or embrace it. For a long time, Aragorn did not need think about that, and was content by being a simple Ranger. This is a life he loved well, because even as a Chieftain, not many answered to him, and he was free to roam the world to his heart's content, getting to visit places such as Lórien, Mirkwood, Rohan, Gondor, and probably others. By the time of the War of the Ring, he has a good knowledge of the land of different realms.

One of his bigger motivations for him to someday become the King of Men was to be a man worthy enough of Arwen's love, but most of his youth goes by without him attempting any claim at the throne, as his time has not yet come. His identity as Isildur's heir is revealed during the Council of Elrond, earning him the respect of the ones attending. Whatever doubts the members of the Fellowship, and later the people of Rohan and Gondor may have had about him, were dispelled by the great deeds he did during the War of the Ring. The main reason why Aragorn hesitated to accept and embrace his destiny as his fear of failing like Isildur did before him, particularly where the One Ring and Sauron are concerned. However, the future King proves that he is stronger and wiser than his ancestor, even rejecting the Ring when offered freely to him. Near the end, he is able to conquer most of his self doubt, taking his rightful place as King.

As a Ranger, Aragorn is much of a lone wolf, usually traveling alone, though he was a good friend of Gandalf the Grey. The people dearest to him before the War of the Ring are to be found in Rivendell, in particular Elrond and his kin, who he regards as family. It is also implied that he was very close to his mother Gilraen, as she was his only blood parent he had during his childhood. When the Fellowship of the Ring is formed, he forms a close relationship with its members, though it is rather strained in the beginning. Aragorn befriends Frodo and the Hobbits in Bree as Strider, helping them get to Rivendell when Gandalf fails to show up and the Nazgûl hunt them for the One Ring. Traveling to Mordor, Aragorn grows especially close to Frodo, wishing nothing more than to help him fulfill his mission, but it is shown he was fond of Sam, Merry and Pippin as well. Gandalf he knew since many years, and considers almost like a mentor, always willing to listen to his wise counsel, and blamed himself when he believed to have lost him in Moria. With Legolas and Gimli, the man forms a very close friendship, especially after the breaking of the Fellowship. The three of them travel through Rohan and into Gondor together, the other two never forsaking the Heir of Isildur, following him loyally to the end.

It is among his fellow Men where he finds doubt and not immediate acceptance. During the Council of Elrond, Boromir questions Aragorn when trying to decide what to do with the One Ring, and is shocked to find out he is Isildur's heir. Their relationship throughout their travels is not an easy one, but on the moment of his death, Boromir truly accepts the older man as his true King. The same is true when meeting Théoden of Rohan, where Aragorn must prove himself in the Battle of Helm's Deep before Théoden recognizes his leadership and kingship. However he is able to forge strong bonds of friendship with Éomer and Faramir, the former riding to war with him, the latter becoming his Steward in Gondor. Also worthy of note is that Éowyn is impressed and besotted with him since the moment they first meet, due to his strong persona. But Aragorn is in love with Arwen, and though he does not encourage her advances, he rebuffs them too politely for her to understand she's being rejected, until he asks her not to ride to war. It can be assumed that in the end, he is happy to see her together with Faramir.

All in all, Aragorn is a very complex character, who shows a lot of evolution through the story. Starting as a foster child of Elrond, becoming a fighter as a Ranger of the North, leading the Fellowship, and finally embracing his destiny as the King of Men. He is beloved by many among Men, Elves, Dwarves and Halflings, and respected not only for his ancestry, but also from his deeds.

Skills and Powers:
Aragorn is a warrior. He is well trained with a sword, his primary weapon, but is also able to use daggers, as well as in archery. Being a Ranger is quite fit and able to travel long distances either by foot or on horseback. He is also a skilled tracker and hunter, being able to follow his prey for many miles, be it an animal or Orcs.

Besides his physical fighting abilities, he is also a strategist and a leader. When Gandalf fell, Aragorn assumed the leadership of the Fellowship of the Ring, keeping them together and safe until the time came for it to break up. Later on, he shared his counsel and experience with King Théoden, and led armies of Men to victory.

It should also be mentioned that Aragorn is a healer, having learned from Elrond himself. He has been qble to help those who have been injured or poisones by the dark arts of Mordor, mostly through the use of medicinal herbs used by the Elves.

Aragorn was raised among the Elves, in Elrond's household. Because of this, he can not only fluently speak and read Elvish, but he also knows some of their lore, inlcuding history, herblore and songs. And in fact, he is a not a bad singer.

Action:
[The feed opens without Aragorn knowing of it, since he is asleep and dreaming. The dream is happening in very fast sequences, but slow enough so you can see them on the mirror.

You can first see at a distance a beautiful Lady, who has an ethereal look about her. The scenery shifts and now you can see the lady and a man with dark hair and a dark beard standing with her upon a bridge. She gives him a jewel and they kiss. On the next scene, the man's voice is heard, speaking in a foreign language, but those who know Elvish are able to understand his words: he bids her to sail to the Undying Lands, releasing her from their betrothal. Both of them look sad. Last scene shows the man holding a crystal ball, the Palantir, and as he looks into it, he sees the lady lying on a bed, looking pale, as if she were seriously ill and dying. A jewel on the man breast falls down and shatters into pieces.

It is at this moment that Aragorn wakes up with a start, his hand going instinctively to where he used to keep his dagger, finding the spot empty. He must remember he is not on Middle-earth anymore, and he keeps his weapons elsewhere. It also takes him a moment to realize his dream has just been shown to the whole network.]

What is this devilry? I did not realize the mirrors had the power to show our dreams to everyone... How is that possible? [He looks thoughtfully at the mirror.] Might there be a way to avoid it? [He would not like others seeing more of his dreams. He certainly has quite a few nightmares related to the One Ring, Sauron and Isildur.] I would like to spare the rest of you from sharing my nightmares. [And from knowing more than they should about him, of course.]

Third Person Prose:
Aragorn found this new place he was in very strange. How could a single island contain so many different domains? This was something he could not understand, even after all he had seen in his travels through Middle Earth. Rohan, Gondor, even the Elven realms were not as polar opposites as the different parts of this island. Upon arriving, he had started exploring the different areas, wanting to know the landscape, and what he could find in each of them. And since he also planned to join the Nightmare Patrol, it would be wise to have a least some knowledge of the land.

He had saved The Shire for last. The name reminded him of home, the Hobbits and the war he had left behind... Along with the Gondorian and Rohirrim armies, they had planned a diversion to give time for Frodo to reach Mordor without being discovered by Sauron. He just hoped the others would go ahead with the plan, even if he was not there. Everything depended on Sauron keeping his eye elsewhere. It is imperative for him to get some, so he hopes he will find a way to leave this place soon. And for that, he needs to know every corner of the land.

So he finds himself finally exploring the Shire. It is nothing like he expected it to be. The Shire of Middle Earth is a small, warm and homely place, just like its inhabitants. He can hardly imagine Frodo and the other Hobbits living in this rainy place of fluorescent, unknown plants. As a Healer, he finds this area very interesting, even taking a few samples to study back some. Some of these plants look highly poisonous, but even poisons in small doses can become a tool for healing. As for the creatures, he had the luck not to encounter too many of them, except for a wraith. For this time, he decided to elude it instead of fighting it, giving him a chance to analyze it as it glided its way through a clearing. It looked dangerous, perhaps almost like a Nazgûl, and certainly not something he would like to fight if he could avoid it. He came out of his hiding, and decided it was time to call it a day, and maybe try to build his own map of the land.
